AMAZON MUSIC LIVE | TNF series Autumn / Winter 2022
Working for and on behalf of London-based creative agency Treatment, I was invited to join the team as Show Director for this exciting new series of music events commissioned by Amazon Music Live.
Each week a different artist showcased their latest material in front of a live studio audience, broadcast worldwide from Los Angeles.
Working closely with Amazon’s creative team, the stage production design for the event series was designed and curated by Mike Smith and was adapted each week to suit each guest’s unique and exacting style.
Joining a transatlantic team from Treatment Studio, my role was to co-ordinate the creative show elements, working with Amazon’s Creative Directors, Producers, the Artist teams, broadcast team and lighting, video & automation / FX programmers, to ensure a slick delivery of each week’s episode with a unique visual narrative tailored to suit each artist’s performance.
The series included 8 episode from a diverse range of world-famous artists including Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Kane Brown, Lil Wayne, Anuel AA, A$AP Rocky, Anitta and 21 Savage.

Lil Baby
Lil Baby’s show was based on the artwork from his recently released number 1 album, It’s Only Me.
The Mount Rushmore inspired cover art created the basis for a conceptual show design, using bespoke visual content of rich painterly worlds featuring mountains, forests and waterfalls, manipulated and enhanced with real-time notch effects and stage lighting.
Megan Thee Stallion
Inspired by the concept of regeneration, the production design for Megan Thee Stallion’s performance included a large iconic chrysalis structure, as the centre piece for her dynamic and energetic show.
Lighting and visual content extended this concept through the use of undulating, organic textures and forms, complimenting this captivating performance from Megan and her dancers.
A$AP Rocky
We transformed the stage in to a dessert for A$AP Rocky’s performance. Part militia base, part migrant camp, the stage was covered in sand and adorned with large military tents, oil drums and other army paraohenaliha - transporting us into Rocky’s world. The huge wraparound screens created the backdrop to our camp, with sandstorms rolling in and clearing to reveal a psychedelic night sky.
21 Savage
For the series finale, we transformed the stage into a concrete bunker for 21 Savage’s performance. A huge soft-box sat above a concrete ramp from which the Atlanta-based rapper performed the majority of his set. The screens were masked with scenic elements, allowing us to use the video canvas as a light source, enhancing the minimalist stage design.
